Silvia Fierascu (Comparative Politics track/Network Science specialization):

"Currently, I am a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Sociology, University of Cambridge, for a period of two months. The purpose of the visit is two-fold: on the one hand, to work closely with two leading researchers in political economy and corruption - Professor Lawrence King and Research Associate Mihaly Fazekas; on the other hand, to use first-hand the data collected during the ongoing DIGIWHIST project, developed primarily by the two in collaboration with researchers from six other research institutes in Europe, within the EU Horizon 2020 funding framework. Using their unique dataset, I will be able to write the most important chapter of my thesis, which effectively tests the theoretical propositions I developed so far and nicely complements the empirical research I have already done. I will also have the chance to present my work to specialized research groups within the Sociology and Political Science departments, which will allow me to gather useful feedback on how to further refine and strengthen my work. There is no doubt that this visit is going to be very fruitful, helping me achieve excellence in my research. My visit is financially supported through the Doctoral Research Support Grant."
