Before coming to Budapest and CEU, I was living and working for almost four years in Lebanon, Egypt, the occupied Palestinian territories and Israel. Ever since, I am fascinated with the ongoing "Egyptian uprising" and the many experiences it has generated - some great, and others also very saddening. In the IR-track at the Doctoral School, I am now researching how those experiences affect the engagement with socio-political change within and beyond Egypt. I am also a member of Alsharq.de, where we try to provide alternative information about the Middle East and offer political study trips to different countries in the region.
