Roger Haydon will share some insights into the workings of academic publishers. In this part lecture, part open discussion we will exchange ideas about how the publishing business has changed over time and how acedemics need to adjust to these changes. What role do academic books play these days? What kind of format should these books have, and what audience do they address? The seminar invites all members of CEU, students and faculty alike to participate and exchange ideas.
About the lecturer
Roger Malcolm Haydon is an Acquisitions Editor, Senior Editor, and now Executive Editor at Cornell University Press, where he is responsible for Press publications and program decisions in politics, international relations, area studies (esp. Asian Studies), political theory, aesthetics. Acquire on average 25-30 new books per year.
Previously he was an Associate (i.e., managing) Editor at International Organization, a journal published by the University of Wisconsin Press and then MIT Press and a Technical Writer at the Departments of Education and Communications Arts, Cornell University.
